You can join on any day – and memorize the Psalm at your own pace.
Today we add verse 4.

Psalm 34:4 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

Consider this: 1 Samuel 21 tells the story of why David was filled with fear. He was abandoned by his own people and he was being chased by King Saul who intended to kill him. He fled to Gath (the hometown of Goliath) and King Achish’s advisors reminded the King that David was a serious threat. David “was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath.” He was cornered. Psalm 34 reveals to us what was going on in David’s heart at that time. He feared! But he sought the Lord. The Lord heard him. And the Lord delivered him from all his fears.

Look carefully at the bottom of the picture today and you will see how my fears were overcome by far greater promises from God. (You may need to enlarge it). It is certainly not an exhaustive list. I constantly seek the Lord to deliver me from fears that disturb my peace.

Last spring, I fell from a ladder and shattered my left heel. During the first surgery to reconstruct my foot, a bacterial infection entered the open wound. For weeks, the doctors could not control the infection and I endured multiple surgeries. As I was being wheeled into the operating room for the 7th time, my surgeon looked down at me and said, “We may have to amputate your leg below the knee.” That news sent fear into my heart because I realized I had already signed the consent form allowing the surgeon to remove all nonviable soft tissue and bone as necessary. Just before the anesthesia was administered, I cried out to the Lord. And when I awakened from surgery I saw that the Lord had heard me and delivered me from my fear. My foot remains with me to this day.

Whatever fears you may have today, bring them all to the Lord. Let Him hear you. Let Him deliver you from all your fears. Memorize this promise today.
