Today we add verse 3.
Psalm 34:3 “O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.”
Consider this: Some months after my Grandad Robertson passed away, Krista and I traveled to Vancouver Island to visit my grandmother. We took her out for lunch and she spoke about how much she missed my grandfather. She also said she missed reading her Bible. I noticed she couldn’t read the menu either. I said, “Grandma, can you see the words on the menu?” She shook her head, “no”! After lunch, we went to the store and bought her a magnifying glass. When we got back to her home she opened her Bible and she could now see the words. The words were there all along – she just couldn’t see them until they were magnified.
Many of our friends and relatives need the Lord. He is near to them and is drawing them to Himself. But they don’t see Him. You ask them, “Do you know the Lord?” And they shake their head, “no”! They need a magnifying glass to see the Lord. We can’t buy one at the store – we are the magnifying glass! As we speak to our friends and family about the Lord we are making His name great. When we live a Christ-like life, Jesus is no longer hidden from their view – He is seen living through us. When we speak of who He is and all He’s done for us we magnify or improve their view of the Lord. He’s been there all along – they just can’t see Him until we magnify His name.
Let us exalt His name together. Far too many people speak of His name as a curse word. Let us keep uniting our voices to lift up His name. He is greater and more glorious than any celebrity. And one day at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
